Mindfulness Mondays (week 1)

On Mondays throughout the school year, check out Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the Middlesex Mindfulness Monday post:  what we are grateful for this week and a Mindfulness exercise for you to try.  Studies have shown that when people practice gratitude for even small things in their lives, they are happier.  Cultivating gratitude goes hand-in-hand with Mindfulness.  That is, to stop and take the time to be grateful for the little things around you – a beautiful day, a delicious cup of coffee, an interesting observation in class, a friendly hello.  Each week's mindfulness exercise will be brief and simple.  We hope these posts bring you a moment of peace and solace in your day.

Week 1: A Mindful Bite - Pay special attention to one bite at your next meal, savoring the flavor and texture of your food and noticing the sensations of chewing and swallowing.
