A spirited group of over 80 alumni, parents, and faculty turned out at the Concord Country Club on September 29 for the 2014 Kingman Cup. This was the tenth Middlesex golf tournament sponsored by the Middlesex Alumni Association and the second since the event was named in memory of longtime faculty member Brad Kingman. This year’s Kingman Cup was expanded to also include tennis and the day featured lunch and postgame cocktails and food.
Concord’s Donald Ross design was in fabulous shape for the Kingman Cup and the last hints of summer were apparent as temperatures rose into the mid 70s. This combined for a perfect backdrop to enjoy a day of camaraderie on the course. While fun was the primary focus, the day was not devoid of competition as each foursome vied to have their names chiseled on the coveted Kingman Cup. Some tremendously low scores were posted and at day’s end the foursome of Joe Morrill ’58, Phil Davis ’58, Pete Hutchinson ’58 and Polly Hutchinson were the team with the low net score and were crowned champions.
With alumni spanning six decades and a large number of current and former parents, the 2014 Kingman Cup was a fantastic day which celebrated the wonderful sense of community at Middlesex. Lots of great photos from this fun day are available on Flickr.
