The Middlesex Class of 2013 will graduate on June 2nd as the largest class in School history, with 101 members. Besides their large size, this class will leave behind another legacy in the form of their record-breaking Senior Class Gift!
Every senior this year chose to participate at some level in the Annual Fund, which supports financial aid, faculty salaries, and 10% of the annual operating budget. Led by Alumni Ambassadors, senior leaders interning for the Alumni Office, the class rallied to achieve the highest participation rate of any graduating class!
This accomplishment not only demonstrates the individual generosity and pride of each student in the senior class, but also a propensity to give back that is pervasive throughout our alumni body. Nearly 50% of Middlesex alumni consistently support the Annual Fund every year, and these donations sustain and expand the Middlesex experience of future students. The contributions from the Class of 2013 will help to preserve the School that they helped to build over the past four years, and the whole community will benefit from their generosity.
As part of the Senior Class Gift campaign, the seniors decided to fill out shields identifying those aspects of their Middlesex experience that they most appreciate. These shields, posted in Eliot Hall, were scrawled with the names of cherished teachers, coaches, and advisors, as well as sports teams, clubs, favorite classes, beloved spots around campus, and special traditions. While the Annual Fund supports those areas of greatest need around campus, these shields were a method for the seniors to communicate which specific parts of Middlesex they gave in honor of. From a shield made out to long-time facilities staff member Trevor Steadman, to one simply honoring "the Circle," this campaign was a wonderful exercise in gratitude and appreciation.
We are so proud of the Class of 2013 for this accomplishment and so grateful for their unanimous support of the Annual Fund!
